Little delayed, I today start with the module of Pictures. I hope be ready until coming Sunday.
The first task is to compress a picture to png and jpg in various bpp’s etc.
Second task is to present those compressed pictures on a website using Sprite and hover-over efects.
Beside those tasks I also would like to know a bit more about the RAW format.
Outcome day 1:
I got a lot of new information about ppi and screen resolution. I calculated some iportant things about my monitors at different resolutions and sizes. I also tried out some useful tools for meassuring items on the screen. Up to that point I was quite satisfied.
But, when I tried to understand the tasks and how to solve them, I got a bit stuck.
How, with what kind of tools, are we supposed to compress the example picture? How can i get the information about the picture we need for calculating the compressions?is it enough to use Photoshop, or do I have to install other software, ie Gimp?
And finally I got as usual confused with the loose using of expressions like byte, bits, Kb, KB etc. When does each other use which?
So, the end of this session was a bit frustrating. I will try to tackle those problems tomorrow with a mind more clear.
Now some rest before afternoons ActionScript session that I hope to manage before evening workshift.
